western maryland=Deep Creek Lake area, near West Virginia; zip code 21550. We were able to pick some blueberries the week fo July 4th. Wondering if they will still be there mid-August…
Yes, I'm talking about wild blueberries growing in the woods.

Having grown up on the Lake and having picked many quarts of blueberries there as a youth, I can tell you that the wild blueberries in Garrett County will be basically gone by mid-August: its all about the deer, birds and other feeders.

That said, there may still be a few pockets of resistance here and there; stop by a road side fruit and veggie place (or the Hilltop Market on Rt. 219 just outside Oakland) and ask around.

Anything else you'd like to know about the Lake and Garrett County -just ask.
